Special Psychic Rituals For The Summer Solstice

The summer solstice is marked as the longest day of the year when the length of time from sunrise to sunset is at its longest. During this period, there are plenty of special psychic rituals you can partake in to purify your soul and release any past sadness or fear.

    What Is The Summer Solstice?

The summer solstice, originally taking its name from the Latin solstitium, meaning “sun stands still’’, celebrates the longest day of the year. It marks the beginning of the summer season in the northern hemisphere and lasts until the autumnal equinox. This special day is widely celebrated in many cultures, marking a time of renewed energy and change.

    Special Rituals

Around the world, there are many special rituals that can be used to celebrate the powerful energy of this solstice. Today, we’ll take a look at the most common rituals from various cultures, that you can practice alone or with others, allowing you to harness this blossoming energy.

    Make A List

Think of all the things you’d like to manifest into your life such as health, luck, and love.

Once you’ve decided, make a list of it at least eight to ten hours before the solstice. When the day arrives, at the very exact time, light two candles, preferably  sunny yellow and sky blue colors.  After you’ve done so, read what you’ve written out loud and watch as it manifests into your life.

    Light Candles

On this day, also known as John’s Feast day for others, you can light a white or blue candle to St.John, while expressing gratitude and praying for a good home, food on your table, and more love in your life. It’s also beneficial to enhance this ritual by lighting a bonfire, eating corn, sweet rice, and sausages.

    Healing And Aromatic Herbs

If you wish to bring more healing into your life, you can follow the Danish tradition of gathering aromatic herbs and throwing them into a bonfire. The various herbs are said to be even more powerful during the solstice.

    Bonfires

Bonfires also hold quite a significance during the summer solstice. Traditionally, the Vikings would make a huge bonfire near a lake to fend off evil spirits who roam freely as the sun turns south. This could also give insight into why some bonfires are made along shorelines. In other cultures, it’s said that if you jump over a bonfire three times you’ll become more purified, and it can even ward off the devil too.

Another ritual is to build a Druidic fire by burning branches from various types of trees at the top of a hilltop.  Likewise, on Casper Mountain in Wyoming, a very large public bonfire is usually held where everyone is free to throw a handful of red dirt into the fire while making a wish.

It’s worth noting that in the 1920s, a Danish tradition existed that involved placing a witch made from cloth and straw on top of a bonfire to serve as a memory of past witch burnings done by the church. This ritual was originally done in order to protect yourself from witches or to prevent any witches in your family from being persecuted.

    Offer A Manferico

If you’ve got a special someone on your mind, traditionally in Portugal, during the summer solstice you’d offer them a manferico (a potted aromatic basil plant) paired with a romantic four-line verse.

    Fertility Bath

In other cultures, there are rituals associated around fertility that young girls would perform during the solstice. If a woman wishes to be fertile, she’d bathe in the sea until she’s washed over by nine waves. Additionally, nude bathing is also said to bring new love into your life.

    A Special Fertility Dance

In Romania, a special dance is performed by five to seven girls, with the lead girl called the Dragaica. The Dragaica wears a wreath crown made from wheat and bedstraw flowers while dressed up as a bride. This fertility ritual can also be done by wearing something white while dancing around a bonfire.

    Cremating Herbs In A Fire

Lastly, in Europe, various herbs such as rosemary, lemon verbena, elderflowers, St. John's Wort, foxgloves, fennel, and mallows are cremated in a fire during this time. This is done as a way to ward off the unholy spirits and usher in the new season.

    Conclusion

The summer solstice is full of powerful rituals that are observed all around the world. By partaking in some of these psychic customs, you can ward off evil spirits, attract love, encourage fertility, or simply connect with nature in a very spiritual way.
