Is Telepathy Real?

The definition of telepathy according to the Cambridge English Dictionary is “the ability to know what is in someone else's mind, or to communicate with someone mentally, without using words or other physical signals”. After all, humans do seem to be able to communicate on many different levels.

With that in mind, have you ever experienced the following?

  • Had someone cook you a meal that you have been craving?
  • Have you been out with your friend and they say “let’s go home” just as you were thinking the same thing?
  • Phoned your friend, and they said “I was just about to call you”.

Ask yourself, are these occurrences fluke, or is there truth in telepathy? Some people claim to be able to read people’s thoughts and at times we seem to know what others are thinking. With social media in our lives we have seen the rise in the phenomena of ‘influencers’- those people who put thoughts into our minds.

Is It Just Coincidence?

When someone says “I was thinking the same thing”, is that more than coincidence? Eckhart Tolle explains these seemingly unfathomable occurrences by looking at where our thoughts come from.   He believes that thoughts are energy entities that he calls thought bubbles.

He further explains that these thought bubbles attach themselves to you. For example, if you are feeling angry, your inner thoughts will make you feel angrier. When you realize this is not a personal thing, but it comes from the universal human collective experience, you can start to change the response to those thoughts.

So, when two people spend a lot of time together, there is a chance they will tap into the same thought bubble from the human collective consciousness. If they look at it similarly, then their thoughts can align as they start to see the world in the same way.

Types of Telepathy

Biologists and those in the field of neuroscience have studied brain-to-brain communication. Even though this cannot be measured, as results cannot be seen, there are biological findings to support the theory. From their findings, telepathy can be experienced in different ways:

  1. We can understand the emotions and intentions of other people. It has been discovered that we do this because our neurons act as mirrors for other people’s emotions and intentions. This is ‘mirror telepathy’ and it works with those in close proximity.
  2. The internet has been proven to be a conduit for telepathy. Srini Pillay, MD performed an experiment in which he proved that a person thinking the words "hola" or "ciao" in India could communicate this to people in Spain via the world wide web.
  3. This seemingly invisible communication can be tracked in the human brain. In a recent brain-imaging experiment a telepathic person had the right parahippocampal gyrus (PHG) brain activated when replicating prepared images. Whereas the left inferior frontal gyrus was activated in a person who is not telepathic.

Telepathy vs Mind Reading

Telepathy is a level of communication that occurs between two willing parties. This is what gives telepathy a valid and positive position in higher-level communication. However, there is suspicion over this ability, as it could be seen as a way to control someone negatively.

Let us examine the differences between telepathy and mind-reading:

  • Telepathy is a positive form of communication between willing beings. These sentient beings want to create a dialogue.
  • Mindreading is where one being wants to gain information from another being, potentially for negative purposes.
  • When telepathy occurs, a mutual mental connection is created. Here the dialogue flows freely and easily.
  • Mind reading is not always a two-way street that inspires both participants.
  • There are reflections and insights discovered and expanded upon through telepathy.
  • Mind reading implies that all knowledge of the subject will be acquired by the mind reader regardless of consent.
  • When sentient beings give boundaries, the information will flow freely during telepathic communication.

When telepathy is used to create positive energy flow, we can enjoy those experiences. When your friend brings you that cup of coffee you have been craving, that is the beauty of telepathy.

Conclusion

With so many thoughts and ideas coming into our sphere without us realizing, we need to be open to those thoughts that are communicated for positive reasons. When there is trust and openness, it has been noted that telepathic communication occurs more readily.

Science has shown us that telepathy is a possibility. Those of us in close communication with other beings, who are privileged to be able to connect with another person’s brain and experience a meeting of minds, will attest to this positive and life-enhancing reality.
