    The Real Meaning of Karma

One scientific finding which has always fascinated me the most is Isaac Newton’s Third Law of Motion: ‘For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction’. It is more the social application of the law of cause and affect then the scientific application of this law that piques my interest. As humans through thinking, speaking and behaving we trigger a force which will result in a reaction from others, a returning force which cannot be eliminated. In simple terms it is not possible for one to escape their actions whether they are good or bad. For many this social law of cause is classified as Karma, but do we understand the true meaning of this ancient Sanskrit word.

Meaning action and intent, karma is a key component of numerous religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Where a positive action with positive intentions creates good karma while a negative action with negative intentions generates bad karma. Karma is not only concerned with actions and consequences, but also the moral reasons or intentions behind the actions.

For example, if someone commits a good deed for the wrong reasons like a charitable donation to impress someone – this action may be immoral and produce bad karma. These karmas can form layers over our souls and keep us from realising our true potential and our ability to hear our soul’s voice. One major concept of karma is reincarnation, where a human is reborn after death and effects of actions good or bad in past lives can bring good or bad fortune. Some of us may be drawn to people with whom we have past karma, we may have karmic debt and paying that debt to them might involve our own suffering.

As the soul returns to life over and over traumatic memories are re-created in our current life stopping us from living peaceful lives. Past life regression is a technique that uses hypnosis to recover memories of past lives, having this information can be enormously beneficial to healing emotional blocks or physical pain which karma can cause. All memories we carry from past lives have an energetic charge which continue to affect us, like accomplishments, failures, sudden deaths and love.

These charges from our past create patterns both positive and negative which are often triggered and repeated in our current life. Positive patterns can feed talents, bestow wisdom and energise life’s purpose, while negative patterns fuel destructive behaviour, cause injury and cloud our vision for a good future. Past life regression therapy can make these memories conscious, releasing patterns which no longer serve us, giving us the freedom to live fully in the present. Through this therapy beneficial patterns are reinforced such as positive karma, while bad karma and negative patterns are neutralised, by healing the soul we can heal the past.

Karmic justice is an opportunity for us to learn lessons on the path to transformation, however, to manifest good things in our life, we need to do what is right. Changing our karma is a gradual process and what we do today will change our future lives forever.
